Privacy Policy

Betcha is an app for friendly wagers between friends ("loser buys dinner"). It keeps an honor-system ledger of who owes what. No real money moves through Betcha. This policy covers the Betcha iPhone app and the website at betcha.jaysonhelmes.workers.dev.
What we collect
- Your account: the display name, username, and avatar (an emoji, a color, or a photo you upload) that you choose; your time zone, so daily and weekly goals use your local time; a recovery code and invite code we generate for you; and your notification and privacy settings.
- If you sign in with Apple or Google: the account identifier Apple or Google gives us, so you can sign back in. We may use the name on that account as your starting display name. We do not store your email address.
- What you post: wagers you create or join, check-ins and posts (notes, photos, and videos), comments, reactions, friend connections, crews, and the IOU ledger.
- Safety: the people you block, and reports you send (what was reported, why, and a copy of the reported post so we can review it).
- Notifications (iPhone): a push notification token from Apple, so we can send you the notifications you've turned on.
- Notifications (web): if you turn them on in a browser, that browser's push address and encryption keys, so we can send it the notifications you've turned on. Turning them off or signing out deletes it.
We don't use advertising or third-party analytics, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
How it's used and who can see it
- We use your information only to run Betcha: showing your wagers, progress, and ledger, and sending notifications you've asked for.
- Your name, username, and avatar can be found by other Betcha users (for example, in search). Your profile's wagers and record are visible to friends, or to everyone if your profile is public.
- Wager details, check-ins, photos, and comments are visible only to the people in that wager (including its witness, if it has one).
- Reports are seen only by Betcha's moderators. The person you report isn't told who reported them.
- We don't sell or share your information with anyone for marketing. It's stored with Cloudflare, which hosts Betcha's servers. Notifications go through Apple's push service, or, on the web, through your browser's push service (Google, Mozilla, Apple, or Microsoft). Web notifications are encrypted so only your browser can read them.
Your choices
- You can change your name, avatar, privacy, and notification settings at any time.
- You can delete your check-ins, posts, and comments.
- Videos are kept for 90 days, or 30 days after the wager ends, whichever comes first. The video file is then deleted; its still frame stays with the post. A deleted check-in's or post's videos are deleted within an hour.
- Deleting your account (Settings in the app or on the website) permanently removes your account, profile, check-ins, photos, comments, friend connections, and the ledger entries you're part of. Wagers you created are deleted for everyone in them. Your username becomes available to others.
Children
Betcha isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
